UPCOMING SHOWS!
August 15th, Triple Nickel Tavern, Colorado Springs, 8pm

**************************************************

Drawing on influences like Queens of the Stone Age, Chevelle, and Truckfighters, the band blends an attention to detail with a love for playing loud. They are equal parts nerd and hard rocker. When they aren’t building something in the shop or discussing calculus after practice, they’re likely writing lyrics or debating the untimely end of Firefly over a plate of hot wings.

Smellblind wallows in the power trio format, with all three members sharing vocal duties. The band writes the intense music that they have the most fun playing, drawing on the slightly twisted perspective that can only come from growing up in the shadow of a 14,000 foot mountain that boasts wildfires, megachurches, and the highest rate of Sasquatch sightings anywhere in the world.

Jacob and Dan had played in several bands together over the years, and in 2012 sought a bassist for a new project. After scaring away several promising candidates with their cynicism, dark sense of humor, and general irreverence, things were looking grim indeed. It was around this time that Jacob ran into Zach at a local brewery. In elementary school, Jacob and Zach had had a brief friendship that flourished around the destruction of a toy firetruck and then faded immediately. Nearly twenty years later, they found that Zach’s bass talent meshed with Jacob and Dan’s musical tastes, and that he could weather even their most curmudgeonly outbursts. They now play the music they love, attend concerts together, and live the well-adjusted lifestyle of three grown-ass men (or grown ass-men?) in a rock band.

about

Smellblind Colorado Springs, Colorado

We are looking for fans who have jobs, a car, and know what they want in life. We've had our heart broken before, so if you're looking for a one-night-stand, we're not the band for you. Snugglers are a plus!

Fuzzy guitars, hairy bass, and timeless drumming happen at every show. We play loud for the neighbors whether they want us to or not.

Track Name: Irregardless
Everyone's got a skeleton
But I've got something to hide
I don't know how I'm still around
Or how you're still alive
God knows I've tried

There's a chance this is all there is
But I've got it right
Wasting breath and wasting space
And wasting my time
God knows I've tried

If you were on fire I would put you out
If you were on trial I would lie for you
If you were too young, I would buy you beer
But that's all I'd do for you

The time has come to wash my hands
I just want to get what's mine
Everyone's got something to love or a reason to die
All in good time

This is a lot more fun since I got involved
You know I love to sling the mud so nothing gets solved
God knows I've tried

If you were in pain I would pull the plug
If you were addicted I'd enable you
If you were on the run you could hide with me
But that's all I'd do for you

This was a huge mistake but I'll let it slide
You've got a skin to keep your insides in.
You've toughened your hide.
And God knows I've tried

If you were in pain I would pull the plug
If you were addicted I'd enable you
If you were on the run you could hide with me
But that's all I'd do for you

My signal won't reach you no more
My signal won't reach you no more
Broadcast 'cross the country by a crazy man

I guess I can't get you no more
I guess I can't get you no more
Driving 'cross the country and paying for them sins
Driving 'cross the country with a crazy man

Going nowhere
Leaving nothing behind

I guess you're just catching a ride
I guess you're just catching a ride
Chewing up the miles
You're one gag closer to home

My radio follows you down
My radio follows you down
I know that you can hear me. Your silence is my friend
Driving 'cross the country with a crazy man

Going nowhere
Leaving nothing behind
Track Name: Alligate
Night rising, fade to gray
Strike a match, use the flame
Cheat the cold, dodge the dark
Don't blink you'll lose the way

Flame red burn it slow
Moon burns to blister souls
Soul suck drains with haste
Make haste no time to waste

Blood boils crimson steam
Steam car to feed the machine
Brain feed I'm driving your mind
Don't mind just searching to find

Pulled
Pulled towards the unknown
The truth falls short of the dream
Waiting out
Waiting out the dawn

Night waning bleed to bright
Kill the fire douse the light
Not sure if you're abandoned or saved
It's done and you're free of the plague
Track Name: That's the Spirit
Today I don't know what you want
And I don't care
Today where you go is your mistake
And this is the last time
This is the last time
This is the last goodbye

Looking back and moving on
Set the stage for another day
Never whither, I'm almost gone
Never fade
And this is the last goodbye

There's still something alive down here
There's still something alive down here
There's still something alive down here
There's still something alive.
Track Name: SMEF
Grown and growing
Still too young to get it done
Just might have made a mess
All I did I did for fun

Stop and start again
And stop and start and stop and start again
Another day
Too damned dumb to waste away

Because I've been working so hard
Just to keep this fragile piece of meat alive
This is a precarious thing
All this just to make it come out right

I stepped in the trap
I had to choose to chew it loose
I'd rather save my words
These teeth have so much more to do

Stop and start again
And stop and start and stop and start again
Another day
Too damned dumb to waste away

Because I've been working so hard
Just to keep this fragile piece of meat alive
This is a precarious thing
All this just to make it come out right
Punishment's not penance
And neither is this

You don't know

I'll wait as long as it takes
In an instant the decades pass and I'm gone
It's worth it to make this mistake
And take it with me for one more day
To keep on breathing
Keep on chewing
Keep this fragile piece of meat alive
Track Name: Slow Pudding
Candlelight sweet talker
We can but we shouldn't
But we did

I guess I probably should have tried
I guess I probably should have lied

Candlelight sweet talker
Who knew that dapper was a crime

I thought I was so clever
She smacked the smirk right off my face
I guess I really didn't mind
But who knew dapper was a crime

I wanted to be handsome
Bought a three piece suit on a lover's dime
Some hours later, still handsome in a jail cell
Who knew dapper was a crime
Track Name: Douchie McSuckbag
This is better than it's ever been but you won't get out unscathed
It's still just a little less than I'd hoped for
All that's left is just the aftertaste and it goes on for days
It's so bitter now and I still want more

Burn slow

That's not the drink for me
That's not the kind of truth I need
This is not a good way out
So let it breathe or let it bleed

Burn slow
